Dallas Business Executive and Civic Leader Dorsey Baskin
Named Chairman of the Board of Dallas Summer Musicals
Dallas, TX… Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc. (DSM), the largest producer of live theatrical entertainment in the Southwest, has named Dorsey Baskin, a global accounting firm executive and civic leader, Chairman of the DSM Board of Directors for 2015.
Baskin began his career in public accounting immediately after earning an MBA from Texas A&M University. Beginning as a line auditor with Arthur Andersen, he progressed, eventually taking on the role of National Technical Director and Industry Liaison for the Banking Industry audit practice and then Managing Director of the Assurance Professional Standards Group.
After more than 25 years with Andersen, Dorsey moved to Grant Thornton LLP, another global accounting firm in 2002. Currently, he is a partner in Grant Thornton’s National Office, working as the Managing Partner of Innovative Services Development. He monitors upcoming changes and developments in laws, regulations, and the business environment and works with the audit, tax and advisory services lines to develop integrated solutions that bring confidence to the financial reporting, tax planning, IT systems development and other objectives of dynamic organizations.
Dorsey is co-editor of Current Issues in Auditing, an academic journal, and a member of the board of the Grant Thornton Foundation. Dorsey is married to another native Texan, Cynthia, and they have two daughters, both born in Houston. One daughter, Natalie Crawford, is an architect living in Richardson with her husband, Brian, also an architect, and son, Nathan. The other daughter, Jennifer Arnold, is a CPA who lives in northern Virginia outside Washington, D.C. with her husband, Ryan, a banker, and daughter, Annie.

NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DALLAS SUMMER MUSICALS
Dallas, TX… Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc., (DSM), the largest producer of live theatrical entertainment in the Southwest, has named Richard L. (Rick) Rogers, a banking executive and civic leader, Chairman of the DSM Board of Directors for 2014. Rogers was installed as Board Chairman at DSM’s annual meeting in December 2013.
Rogers, a native of Benton, Arkansas, graduated from the University of Arkansas where he was an Alcoa Scholar. He began his banking career in Dallas immediately after earning an MBA from SMU. Financing middle market companies has been the focus of his banking career, which includes tenure at three banks prior to joining Texas Capital Bank in early 2006. In his current role as Executive Vice President of Texas Capital Bank, Rogers focuses on financing rapidly growing owner managed companies.
Rick has served on numerous nonprofit boards including the Dallas Summer Musicals. Rick has been married to wife Susan since shortly after graduating from SMU, and they have two children. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Texas Can! Academies and actively participated in their fund raising activities the past 14 years. A Life Member of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, he was a recipient of the John J. Hospers Award for 1998, 1999 and 2000 and top individual fund raiser for five years.

Dallas, TX… Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc., (DSM), the largest producer of live theatrical entertainment in the Southwest, has named Steve Watson, a business executive and civic leader, Chairman of the DSM Board of Directors for 2013. Watson was installed as Board Chairman at DSM’s annual meeting in December 2012.
As Managing Director of the Dallas office of Stanton Chase International, a member of the Association of Executive Search Consultants ranked within the top 10 global retained search firms, Steve Watson was recognized in 2008, 2009 and 2010 by Business Week magazine as one of the “50 Most Influential Headhunters in the World.” Watson previously served as International Chairman from 2004-2010.
Prior to his search career, Steve served as President and CEO, and Chairman of Micronyx, and as regional director for the south central region for Tandem Computers. He was with Burroughs Corporation early in his career, where he held management positions of increasing responsibility. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and his MBA from Southern Methodist University (SMU).
Currently, Mr. Watson serves on the Board of SMU’s Athletic Forum, the Board of Governors of Northwood Club, and the Board of the North Texas Wisconsin Alumni Association. He previously served as President of Northwood Club; a mentor for SMU’s Cox School of Business Executive MBA Scholarship Program; a Board Member of the Metroplex Technology Business Council; and on the Board of Directors for Terra Nova Financial Group (“TNFG”). Steve and his wife, Sandy, are active members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church.

Jordan, a local attorney and civic leader, Chairman of the DSM Board of Directors for 2012. Jordan was installed as Board Chairman at DSM’s annual meeting in December 2011.
The Office Managing Partner of the Dallas office of Dykema, Jordan has long been considered a leader in the legal profession and is active throughout the Dallas community. He has been honored for his leadership roles within the legal community on many occasions. Those leadership roles include serving as President of the State Bar of Texas, President of the Dallas Bar Association, and as a member of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of the American Bar Association.
A 2005 Distinguished Alumnus of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, and a former President of the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society, Jordan is a Life Fellow of the American, Texas and Dallas Bar Foundations. He is a Master of the Patrick E. Higginbotham American Inn of Court, board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In addition, he has been designated a Texas Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and Texas Monthly for the years 2003-2011.

Jordan actively serves on the boards of such local organizations as the Methodist Health System Foundation, Greater Dallas Planning Council, Southwestern Medical Foundation, Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, and the SMU Athletic Forum. In addition, he has served on the DSM Executive Committee and Board of Directors for several years, and is a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas.
“Dallas Summer Musicals is a great institution, one of the best in Dallas, that has been providing high quality, reasonably priced Broadway musical theatre to North Texas audiences for over 70 years. We plan to be around for another 70 years . . . our patrons deserve no less,” Jordan said.

Local attorney michael steindorf takes over as new chairman of the board of dallas summer musicals

Steindorf is a partner at the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., where he has specialized in business litigation for 23 years.He became involved with DSM several years ago as a result of handling a pro bono legal matter on the company’s behalf, but his interest in Dallas Summer Musicals goes back much further.At age 15, Steindorf mowed yards all summer to earn money to take a date to see DSM’s 1971 production of Camelot starring Robert Goulet.He was prompted to continue his more recent involvement with DSM because of its many programs aimed at children, including the Stage Right program created in partnership with the Dallas Police Department to help bring at-risk students to the shows.

Steindorf is a 1978 graduate of Texas A&M and 1980 graduate of Baylor Law School.He serves as a member of the State Bar of Texas Standing Committee on Racial Diversity in the Profession and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.He has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America and as a Texas Super Lawyer in Business Litigation for many years.Steindorf is also a past member of the board of directors of the North Texas Food Bank and board of trustees of the Dallas Opera.

Steindorf and his wife, Dallas native Victoria, live in Highland Park and are longtime members of Park Cities Presbyterian Church.The Steindorfs have three children and a new granddaughter.
