DALLAS BUSINESS EXECUTIVE AND CIVIC LEADER RICK ROGERS
NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DALLAS SUMMER MUSICALS

Dallas, TX… Dallas Summer Musicals, Inc., (DSM), the largest producer of live theatrical entertainment in the Southwest, has named Richard L. (Rick) Rogers, a banking executive and civic leader, Chairman of the DSM Board of Directors for 2014.  Rogers was installed as Board Chairman at DSM’s annual meeting in December 2013.

Rogers, a native of Benton, Arkansas, graduated from the University of Arkansas where he was an Alcoa Scholar.  He began his banking career in Dallas immediately after earning an MBA from SMU. Financing middle market companies has been the focus of his banking career, which includes tenure at three banks prior to joining Texas Capital Bank in early 2006. In his current role as Executive Vice President of Texas Capital Bank, Rogers focuses on financing rapidly growing owner managed companies.

Rick has served on numerous nonprofit boards including the Dallas Summer Musicals.  Rick has been married to wife Susan since shortly after graduating from SMU, and they have two children.  He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Texas Can! Academies and actively participated in their fund raising activities the past 14 years.  A Life Member of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, he was a recipient of the John J. Hospers Award for 1998, 1999 and 2000 and top individual fund raiser for five years.

DSM President and Managing Director Michael Jenkins said, “We are very lucky to have an outstanding banking executive and business leader like Rick Rogers take the helm as Chairman of the Board of Dallas Summer Musicals for 2014.  He combines an impressive record of 30 years of achievement in the banking industry with volunteer leadership in support of education and the arts, and has been a big supporter of DSM for some time.”

New DSM Board Chairman Rogers said, “It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead this prestigious arts organization during its 74th season in 2014.  DSM belongs to the people of Dallas, and we are here to safeguard it and make sure that it is passed along in good condition to the next generation.  As a nonprofit, we work year-round to bring the best that Broadway has to offer to Dallas at an affordable ticket price.  My first association with DSM was in 1963, when my parents traveled from Benton to see DSM’s production of West Side Story.  DSM continues to have a large number of patrons from all over the southwest, including my home state of Arkansas.  With the help of sponsors, subscribers, volunteers and the community at large, we will continue this tradition for many years in the future.”
