2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAM
In September 2025, to launch the school year and the 100th Anniversary of the Music Hall, Broadway Dallas is doubling the size of the program to serve 6,800 students.
Focusing on the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of THE WIZ. This iconic musical was groundbreaking for its first all-Black cast when it opened on Broadway 40 years ago and its vibrant reinterpretation of The Wizard of Oz. Infused with soul, funk, and gospel music, the production reimagines the classic tale within a contemporary, urban setting—offering a culturally rich and empowering experience for new generations.
Students will explore Dorothy’s journey through contemporary themes while celebrating African culture through the lens of Afrofuturism – the intersection of African heritage with science and technology. Classroom curriculum will explore Afrofuturism’s influence on theatrical production, examining how science and technology shape the show’s set design, costumes, lighting, projections, and music, deepening students’ understanding of both STEM concepts and cultural storytelling while fostering critical thinking and innovation.
