Performance Ensemble

For more than 15 years, the High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA) have celebrated the incredible talent of students across our region. Building on that legacy, we brought these standout performers together to create something more—an opportunity for young artists to gain real-world experience while sharing the power of arts education through their own voices. Please welcome the Broadway Dallas Performance Ensemble!

About the ensemble

The Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA) Performance Ensemble is an exciting new opportunity for standout students from participating schools to showcase their talent beyond the awards stage. Ensemble members will represent Broadway Dallas at special events throughout the year — from community gatherings to donor receptions — sharing the spirit of HSMTA with audiences across North Texas.

wHO CAN JOIN?

  • Current HSMTA Students from participating schools (grades 9-12)
  • Students must have reliable transportation to and from rehearsals and events, which will primarily take place during weekends and after school hours
  • Students must be strong vocalists and have intermediate+ dance ability

Benefits for BD ensemble members:

  • Paid performances- Ensemble members will be paid $50/performance
  • First access to tickets- Early opportunities for tickets to Broadway Dallas touring shows
  • Professional Experience- Collaborate with and learn from professional artists from the DFW community
  • Community Building- Join a dynamic community of performers from across the metroplex, building friendships, skills, and memories while representing Broadway Dallas

Audition information:

  • All auditions will be accepted via video submission.

  • Students should submit auditions via video by Thursday, September 10th, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
  • Students will also need to submit a resume and headshot.
  • Video auditions should include:
    • 1 32-bar cut of a song from a musical
    • 1 32-bar cut of a contrasting song from a musical OR a 32-bar pop/rock cut.

How will students be selected?

  • Students will be reviewed by a panel of Broadway Dallas staff members based off ability showcased in their audition videos and submitted resumes.
  • Accepted ensemble members will be notified via email no later than September 18 ,2026.
    • Mandatory First Ensemble Rehearsal: Sunday, September 27th 1:00-8:00 PM
