K-12 Programming

Working in partnership with schools and school districts, the goal of our K-12 Programming is to turn STEM to STEAM by integrating the arts into core curriculum classrooms. With a focus on career readiness and using theatre skills on and off the stage, our K-12 Programming uses the Spirit of Broadway to enhance the education of all children we serve.
DALLAS ISD PARTNERSHIP
Each year, Broadway Dallas partners with Dallas ISD to provide exceptional professional development opportunities for educators and provide exclusive engagement opportunities to the students, including custom curriculum, backstage engagement, summer camp, and master classes. Dallas ISD also utilizes the Music Hall at Fair Park to provide students with unique art engagement opportunities such as North Texas Drama Auditions and the district’s Kids Dance program. Through this partnership, Broadway Dallas exhibits our commitment to our city and its well-deserving theatre students.
AFTER-SCHOOL RESIDENCIES
Broadway Dallas activates its vast network of professional teaching artists to lead weekly theatre classes at several of our South Dallas community partner sites. Beginning with students as young as preschool, our teachers ignite a love of storytelling and performance, providing equitable access to high-quality arts education in South Dallas communities.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Each season, Broadway Dallas provides myriad professional development opportunities for DFW educators that align with select Broadway shows on stage at the Music Hall. Previous educator workshops include backstage tours, Q&As with union performers/technicians, immersive skill workshops (stage combat, intimacy choreography, bias training, etc.), and hands-on technical theatre instruction. In addition to earning required professional development hours, teachers are provided with a catered meal and tickets to a Broadway performance at the Music Hall.
SUMMER CAMPS
Broadway Dallas keeps cool during the hottest months of the year by hosting elementary, middle, and high school summer camps for DISD students. Each two-week camp is taught by certified DFW teachers and professional teaching artists and culminates in a full-length musical performance. Campers learn more than musica and choreography—they take field trips to local attractions (Texas Discovery Gardens, Texas Children’s Aquarium), have special Camp Family Nights at Broadway performances, and learn how to work as a team to put on a show. Parents have called Broadway Dallas’ summer camp programming “a camp of dreams!”
