(April 2, 2025) The city of Frisco plans to partner with a newly formed nonprofit, Frisco Live, to manage and operate the envisioned Frisco Center for the Arts (FCFA). Frisco Live combines the collective resources and expertise of entertainment industry leader Broadway Across America and local nonprofit venue operator Broadway Dallas.
On Tuesday, the Frisco City Council authorized the finalization of a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Frisco Live to operate the proposed facility. This letter of intent builds on the city’s previously announced partnership with Broadway Across America and Broadway Dallas to present an annual slate of Broadway shows at the new facility as “Broadway Frisco”.
Frisco Live was selected to operate the planned facility following a monthslong, city-led open procurement process that attracted multiple national/multi-national companies to submit operational proposals.
“Frisco Live shares a vision with the leaders of Frisco of a thriving arts hub and an economic catalyst for the citizens of Frisco, Prosper and the surrounding communities. At the FCFA, on any given day, you’ll be able to attend a Broadway show or concert, take in a student production in the community hall, and listen to a local singer-songwriter perform in the enormous lobby. All while surrounded by an ever-changing collection of artwork from local artists. We are ecstatic to have been chosen to provide world class Broadway programming, ground-breaking education and work-force training programs, and now to manage this world-class facility,” said Ken Novice, President and CEO of Broadway Dallas.
Added Novice, “The growth in Collin County and to the north is extraordinary and undeniable – unmatched anywhere in the country. Frisco Live will bring an exciting array of programs to this thriving sector of the DFW metroplex so that the community can enjoy concerts and Broadway in your own backyard.”
“The FCFA will be a state-of-the-art, amenities-laden venue, a magnet that will attract audiences from throughout the region to Frisco to fill restaurants and hotels rooms. From a service, comfort and convenience standpoint, we will bring the best practices from facilities around the world to Frisco to make the FCFA a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone who attends, and to provide VIP suite services that Frisco residents have come to expect,” said Lauren Reid, President of the John Gore Organization, parent company of Broadway Across America.
About the Frisco Center for the Arts
The FCFA concept includes a 2,800-seat performance hall, capable of accommodating Broadway and large touring and community productions, as well as a 300 to 400-seat community hall, to be used primarily by Prosper ISD, while also providing access to community organizations, Frisco-area public and private educational institutions, and cultural events.
The proposed city-owned facility would be built on community-owned land adjacent to the Firefly Park development at the southwest corner of the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and US 380.

Dear Friends,
Our beloved Music Hall at Fair Park turns 100 years old this October! We are planning a number of exciting things to celebrate this monumental occasion – and we need your help. Over the next few months, we are collecting stories from you, our patrons, about memorable experiences you have had at the Music Hall over the years.
Perhaps you saw Maria Callas perform with the Dallas Opera… proposed to your spouse on the stage… saw Christina Aguilera open for Beyonce and Destiny’s Child… went into labor during the second act of 42nd Street… or were in the audience when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke…
We want to record and share your stories, some of which will be made part of a permanent video archive and an upcoming documentary.
Think of your most cherished Music Hall memory and then visit www.broadwaydallas.org/MusicHall100 for more information about how you can participate the next time you visit the Music Hall.
See you in the lobby!

THE WIZ premiered on Broadway in 1975 and became an instant sensation, going on to win seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Ted Ross), Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Dee Dee Bridgewater), Best Choreography (George Faison), and in a Broadway first, Best Direction of a Musical and Best Costume Design (Geoffrey Holder). “Ease on Down the Road” became the show’s break-out single, and “Home” has since become a bona fide classic. That original production ran for four years (first at The Majestic Theatre and later at The Broadway Theatre) – and 1,672 performances – on Broadway. A 1978 film adaptation starred Diana Ross, Ted Ross, Mabel King, Richard Pryor and Lena Horne, and marked Quincy Jones’ first collaboration with Michael Jackson. The most recent Broadway revival played from March to August 2024 at the Marquis Theater in NYC.

Dear Friends,
2025 is well under way at Broadway Dallas!
LAST FRIDAY, we announced our blockbuster 2025/2026 season which is chock full of new Broadway hits AND classic favorites. It’s a super special season for all of us as we will be celebrating the 100th birthday of the Music Hall – our storied and beloved home. (Fun fact: the Music Hall opened in 1925 – the same year that The Great Gatsby was originally published – and the new musical adaptation of Gatsby is on our season – how about that for long-term planning?!)
THIS WEEK, we open the current Broadway smash & Juliet which features not one, but TWO, cast members who hail from Dallas. Shelby Griswold, a former winner in the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theater Awards, plays the role of Lucy. And Juliet herself is played by the amazing Rachel Webb, a Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts alum.
We have great things ahead in 2025 – read on to learn more about what we do on stage — and in the community — and stay tuned for more exciting announcements.
See you in the lobby!
Ken Novice
Broadway Dallas President and CEO
In November, the Broadway Dallas staff boarded a bus and spent the day on a special tour of South Dallas. Led by our Education and Community Partnerships team, we learned about the profound civil rights activism of a local legend at the Juanita Craft House, had lunch in the garden that transformed a community at Bonton Farms, and explored the grounds of our new Broadway Dallas Cares partner, the Jubilee Park & Community Center. It was an inspiring day for our staff, and it fueled our desire to dig deeper with our amazing community partners in support of their incredible work.
Last month we had the pleasure of visiting Seacrest Studios at Children’s Health Hospital with the star of PETER PAN, Nolan Almeida! Located inside the hospital, Seacrest Studios broadcasts live to patients all throughout the Children’s Health system. Nolan had a blast answering questions submitted in real time by the children watching from their rooms and even challenged the host to a few games of tic-tac-toe!
We are proud to introduce the Music Hall Access Team! The Access Team utilizes individuals who are part of Café Momentum’s internship program, allowing us to provide justice-involved youth in our community with an opportunity to lend a hand to our patrons, acting as their dedicated concierge for the duration of their visit to the Music Hall.
The Music Hall Access Team was created to reinforce Broadway Dallas’ mission to provide the best level of service to all of our patrons, with respect, empathy, thoughtfulness, and passion for what we do.

“By partnering with Broadway Dallas, we’re opening doors for kids who would not have a chance to experience the magic of live theater,” said Chris. “The look on these students’ faces says it all. Produced by Disney Theatrical Group, under the direction of Andrew Flatt, Anne Quart, and Thomas Schumacher, The Lion King has made theatrical history with two productions worldwide running 20 or more years and three others running 25 or more years.
Performed over its lifetime in nine different languages (English, Japanese, German, Korean, French, Dutch, Spanish, Mandarin and Portuguese), there are currently eight productions of The Lion King around the world: Broadway, London, Paris, Hamburg, Madrid, Tokyo, Toronto, and on tour across North America. The Lion King has played over 100 cities in 24 countries on every continent except Antarctica; its worldwide gross exceeds that of any film, Broadway show or other entertainment title in box office history.
The Lion King won six 1998 Tony Awards®: Best Musical, Best Scenic Design (Richard Hudson), Best Costume Design (Julie Taymor), Best Lighting Design (Donald Holder), Best Choreography (Garth Fagan) and Best Direction of a Musical. The Lion King has also earned more than 70 major arts awards including the 1998 NY Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, the 1999 Grammy® for Best Musical Show Album, the 1999 Evening Standard Award for Theatrical Event of the Year and the 1999 Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Choreography and Best Costume Design.
Director, costume designer and mask co-designer Julie Taymor, the first woman to win a Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical, remains actively involved in the show, launching new productions and maintaining the flagship Broadway production.
The Broadway score features Elton John and Tim Rice’s songs from the Lion King animated film along with three new songs by John and Rice; additional musical material by South African Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor and Hans Zimmer; and music from “Rhythm of the Pride Lands,” an album inspired by the original music in the film, written by Lebo M, Mark Mancina and Hans Zimmer. The resulting sound of The Lion King is a fusion of Western popular music and the distinctive sounds and rhythms of Africa, ranging from the Academy Award®-winning song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” to Lebo M’s rich choral numbers.
Elton John, Lebo M, and Hans Zimmer all collaborated on the 2019 version of the film, executive produced by Julie Taymor and Thomas Schumacher, which has gone onto extraordinary worldwide success.
The book has been adapted by Roger Allers, who co-directed the animated The Lion King feature, and Irene Mecchi, who co-wrote the film’s screenplay. Other members of the creative team include: Michael Curry, who designed the masks and puppets with Taymor, Steve Canyon Kennedy (sound design), Michael Ward (hair and makeup design), Anthony Lyn (associate director), Marey Griffith (associate choreographer), Clement Ishmael (music supervisor), Lisa Dawn Cave (production supervisor), Thomas Schlenk (general manager) and ARC/Mark Brandon, CSA (casting). Dear Friends,
As Thanksgiving approaches, I am once again reminded how fortunate we at Broadway Dallas are.
We have a beautiful, historically and culturally significant home at the 99-year-old Music Hall at Fair Park (plus a gorgeous second home at the Winspear Opera House).
We have a dedicated team of full- and part-time employees who are committed to making every visit to the Music Hall enjoyable, comfortable, and safe.
We have an unwaveringly supportive family of donors and board members who selflessly give of their time and money to enable us to fulfill our mission to share the gift of Broadway – through our Education and Community Partnerships programs – with as many people as possible.
And finally, we have the most loyal, enthusiastic, show-loving, standing-ovation-giving audiences, without whom we quite simply wouldn’t exist.
For all these reasons and many, many more, I’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving this year with deep and heartfelt gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!
See y’all in the lobby,
Ken Novice
Broadway Dallas President and CEO

Broadway Dallas has been part of Encore Society charter member, Dr. Chris Salerno’s life since he moved to Dallas in 1981. Wanting to gift his parents experiences versus things, a newspaper ad led Chris to purchase a Broadway subscription for them. This was a perfect fit since his dad had been a nightclub and Broadway critic. His parents held that subscription for 20 years. With their passing, Chris and his partner Dr. John Dixon took over their seats. Since then, Broadway Dallas shows and Crystal Terrace dinners have been the highlights of their year. Chris believes strongly in giving back and serves as a Broadway Dallas Advisory Board member and an Ambassador volunteer at the Music Hall. When asked why he decided to leave a gift to Broadway Dallas in his estate plan through Broadway Dallas’ Encore Society, Chris said, “My parents introduced me to live theatre at age 2; I took it for granted that everyone else had it. Now, I can’t imagine kids without live theatre in their lives. Through my legacy gift, I hope to help make that a reality for more kids in the future”.
Like Chris, you can help ensure Broadway Dallas’ legacy continues for generations to come.

“THE AUDIENCE GOES WILD!” – The New York Times
Bob Gale said, “To paraphrase Marty McFly, you guys are ready for this, and your kids are gonna love it (too)! If Bob Zemeckis and I time traveled back to 1980 and told our younger selves that the script they were struggling to write would become a Broadway musical 43 years later, they’d kick us out of their office and call us crazy. Well, sometimes, crazy ideas give birth to great entertainment, and now Bob and I are eager to share our musical vision with New York audiences. The London production exceeded our original expectations on every level, and we’re certain the Broadway version, along with the fantastic songs by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, will be even better. Regardless of whether you’ve seen the original film, BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Musical, with its outstanding performances and incredible stagecraft, will delight and enthrall you, your kids, your parents, and everyone you know!”
Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard said, “It all began for us with the story and characters that made Back To The Future a much beloved, cinematic classic. The magic of musical theatre presented us with the possibility of adding new dimension and depth to our familiar Hill Valley residents. Through song and dance their innermost thoughts, hopes, and dreams are now revealed. It’s a story first told in 1985, that traveled back to 1955, and will now be told in 2023 in New York City and, starting in 2024, across North America. We are thrilled and excited to invite you to join us on this epic journey through time.”
Lead Producer Colin Ingram said, “Following London and Broadway, we are delighted to take BACK TO THE FUTURE: The Musical on the road. We look forward to entertaining and thrilling audiences, who have cherished this story for decades, with the moving and spectacular musical version.”

ALAN SILVESTRI (Music & Lyrics). In his ongoing, decades-long career as a composer, Alan Silvestri has blazed an innovative trail with his exciting and melodic scores, winning the applause of Hollywood and movie audiences the world over. With a credit list of over 100 films, Silvestri has composed some of the most recognisable and beloved themes in movie history. His efforts have been recognised with two Oscar® nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, two Emmy® awards, eight Grammy award nominations leading to three Grammy® awards and numerous International Film Music Critics Awards, Saturn Awards, and Hollywood Music In Media Awards. Born in New York City and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Silvestri first dreamed of becoming a jazz guitar player. After attending the Berklee School of Music in Boston, he hit the road as a performer and arranger. Landing in Hollywood at the age of 22, he found himself successfully composing the music for 1972’s The Doberman Gang which established his place in the world of film composing. The 1970s witnessed the rise of energetic synth-pop scores, establishing Silvestri as the action rhythmatist for TV’s highway patrol hit “CHiPs.” This action-driven score caught the ear of a young filmmaker named Robert Zemeckis, whose 1984 hit film, Romancing the Stone, was the perfect first date for the composer and director. Its success became the basis of a decades- long relationship that continues to this day. Their numerous collaborations have taken them through fascinating landscapes and stylistic variations, from the Back to the Future trilogy to Toontown in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, the tension of What Lies Beneath and Death Becomes Her, to the cosmic wonder of Contact; the emotional isolation of Castaway, to the magic of The Polar Express, to Zemeckis’ 1994 Best Picture winner, Forrest Gump, for which Silvestri’s gift for melodically beautiful themes earned him an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination. This 39-year, 22-film collaboration includes such recent films as Flight, Allied, The Witches and Walt Disney’s Pinocchio starring Tom Hanks. Zemeckis and Silvestri are currently working on Here starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright which is scheduled for release in 2023. Though the Zemeckis/Silvestri collaboration is legendary, Silvestri has scored films of every imaginable style and genre. His energy has brought excitement and emotion to the hard-hitting orchestral scores for Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, James Cameron’s The Abyss as well as Predator 1 and 2 and The Mummy Returns. Alan’s diversity is on full display in family entertainment films such as The Father of the Bride 1 and 2, The Parent Trap, Stuart Little 1 and 2, Disney’s Lilo and Stitch, The Croods as well as Night at the Museum 1, 2 and 3 while his passion for melody fuels the romantic emotion of films like The Bodyguard and What Women Want. In 2018-19 Alan composed the music for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. These films are the culmination of a partnership with Marvel that began in 2011 with his dynamically heroic score for Captain America: The First Avenger followed by The Avengers in 2012. Alan’s collaboration with Marvel helped propel The Avengers: Infinity Saga to spectacular worldwide success. Silvestri’s success has also crossed into the world of songwriting for film and stage. His partnership with six-time Grammy Award-winner Glen Ballard has produced movie hits such as the Grammy-winning and Oscar- nominated song ‘Believe’ (Josh Groban) for The Polar Express, ‘Butterfly Fly Away’ (Miley Cyrus) for Hannah Montana The Movie, ‘God Bless Us Everyone’ (Andrea Bocelli) for A Christmas Carol and ‘A Hero Comes Home’ (Idina Menzel) for Beowulf. Silvestri and Ballard’s newest venture is the phenomenally successful Back to the Future: The Musical. Silvestri and Ballard cowrote the songs and Silvestri adapted his iconic score for the stage. This collaboration proved to be irresistible to audiences and critics alike as Back to the Future: The Musical was honored with the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Musical of 2022.
GLEN BALLARD (Music & Lyrics). Six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard is one of popular music’s most accomplished producers and songwriters, whose records have sold more than one hundred and fifty million copies worldwide. Through his Los Angeles-based production company, Augury, Ballard is developing a diverse slate of projects in which music plays a central role. His most recent project is the Netflix Original series “The Eddy”: a music-driven multicultural drama about a jazz band trying to survive in chaotic modern-day Paris which debuted in May 2020. Ballard wrote and composed original songs and music for the limited series and served as an executive producer alongside Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle, BAFTA and Tony award winning writer Jack Thorne, and Emmy winning producer/director Alan Poul. Ballard wrote original lyrics and music for GHOST the Musical which debuted in 2011 and has since been touring worldwide. Ballard’s international production company, Augury is a producer of the stage adaptation of 1985’s Back to the Future having worked on the project’s development for more than 14 years. In collaboration with Grammy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated film composer Alan Silvestri, Ballard created original music and lyrics for the production which includes 17 new original songs and is directed by John Rando. Ballard is also writing songs for the stage version of the 1979 movie The Rose, to be produced by Gail Berman (The Jackal Group) and Michael Gorfaine and Sam Schwartz in association with Augury. Ballard produced and co-wrote Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill” (33 million worldwide, four Grammys, and named Best Album of the Decade by Billboard Magazine), and in 2019 a musical called Jagged Little Pill featuring all the songs from the album debuted on Broadway. Directed by Diane Paulus with a book by Diablo Cody, Jagged Little Pill the Musical was nominated for 15 Tony Awards in 2020. Ballard has written and produced songs for Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Dave Matthews, Shakira, Katy Perry, Idina Menzel, George Benson, Ringo Starr, George Strait, Wilson Phillips, Van Halen, Chaka Khan, Patti Austin, Al Jarreau, Andrea Bocelli and many others. WINNER OF EIGHT 2019 TONY AWARDS® INCLUDING BEST MUSICAL

MUSIC, LYRICS & BOOK BY ANAÏS MITCHELL
DEVELOPED WITH & ORIGINALLY DIRECTED BY RACHEL CHAVKIN
“Astounding! Hadestown will make you fall in love with musical theater again.”
Lily Janiak, San Francisco Chronicle
Dallas, TX (November 4, 2024) – Broadway Dallas and Broadway Across America (BAA) are pleased to announce that Hadestown, the winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best New Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, will return to Dallas in 2025. The show will play February 25 to March 2 at the Music Hall at Fair Park as part of the 2024/2025 Broadway Series presented by Broadway Dallas. Tickets will go on sale Friday, November 8 at 10 a.m.
Individual tickets for Hadestown will be available at BroadwayDallas.org or by calling 800-982-2728. Group orders of 10 or more may be placed by calling 214-426-4768 or emailing Groups@BroadwayDallas.org.
Hadestown is the most honored show of the 2018-2019 Broadway season. In addition to the show’s eight Tony Awards®, it has been honored with four Drama Desk Awards, six Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Outstanding New Broadway Musical, and the Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical.
“Scorching! Stunning! Both unmistakably timely and irresistibly entertaining.”
Catey Sullivan, Chicago Sun-Times
The acclaimed new musical is by celebrated singer-songwriter and Tony Award® winner Anaïs Mitchell and developed with original director and Tony Award® winner Rachel Chavkin. Hadestown marks the first time in over a decade that a woman has been the solo author of a musical: writing the music, lyrics, and book, and is the fourth time in Broadway history a woman has accomplished this creative feat.
“Mesmerizing! Hadestown arrives in smoldering fashion. Unfurling like a dream, the show achieves a fluidity of musical theater storytelling that makes an old tale seem startlingly new.”
Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times
The show opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway (219 West 48th Street, New York) on April 17, 2019, where it played sold out houses nightly before performances were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hadestown resumed performances September 2, 2021 as one of the first musicals to reopen on Broadway where it continues to play today.
The show originated as Mitchell’s indie theater project that toured Vermont which she then turned into an acclaimed album. With Chavkin, her artistic collaborator, Hadestown has been transformed into a genre-defying new musical that blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale.
Following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers, and singers, Hadestown delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience.
Welcome to the intriguing and beautiful world of “your next musical theater obsession.”
Vogue
Hadestown electrified audiences with its 2016 world premiere at New York Theatre Workshop, which is the longest-running show in that celebrated theater’s 40-year history. The production then received its Canadian premiere at Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre in 2017 and then a 2018 sold-out engagement at the London’s National Theatre. Hadestown was developed with funding from the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center and was further developed by The Ground Floor at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Hadestown was co-conceived by Ben t. Matchstick.
The Grammy® winning Hadestown Original Broadway Cast Recording is now available at Hadestown.com/music. The album is produced by David Lai, Sickafoose, and Mitchell on Sing It Again Records.

(October 28, 2024) The City of Frisco plans to partner with the Prosper Independent School District (PISD) on a proposed Frisco Center for the Arts (FCFA) and collaborate with Broadway Across America / Broadway Dallas to create a ‘Broadway Frisco’ series to reside in the facility. The vision for the FCFA includes a 2,800-seat performance hall, capable of accommodating Broadway and large touring and community productions, as well as a 300 to 400-seat community hall, to be used primarily by Prosper ISD while also providing access to community organizations and events. The proposed facility also includes support spaces, rehearsal areas, and visual arts creative spaces.
More than seven square miles of Prosper ISD is located within the City of Frisco. More than 2,900 PISD students live in the City of Frisco today. A location for the proposed facility has not been determined; however, it will be built within overlapping boundaries.
The potential FCFA project requires the Frisco City Council to put the proposed measure on a ballot. Ultimately, Frisco voters will decide whether to fund the project.
The FCFA, as proposed, has a total maximum project budget of $340 million. Prosper ISD intends to contribute $100 million from its 2023 Performing Arts Center bond funds. The City of Frisco is considering private and philanthropic funding sources, which would not increase property taxes, should voters approve the proposed facility.
“The City of Frisco has envisioned a performing arts hall for two decades,” said Mayor Jeff Cheney. “Last year, we discovered an opportunity to partner with the Prosper Independent School District on such a facility. We’re really excited about the possibilities. Ultimately, the decision to participate will be up to Frisco voters if the proposed project, Frisco Center for the Arts, is placed on a ballot by the City Council in 2025.”
On October 21, PISD Board of Trustees were provided a report about “proposed partnership with the City of Frisco to build a new state-of-the-art Center for the Arts that will serve the learners, educators, and community.”
“We are excited about the possibility of partnering with the City of Frisco to provide a world-class educational opportunity for our students. This collaboration would allow our teachers and students to produce campus and district concerts, musicals, and theatrical productions while also participating in Broadway-level productions with outside partners. The potential for our students to learn from and work alongside industry professionals in a state-of-the-art facility aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences. This partnership represents a unique opportunity to maximize resources and create something special for our school community and the broader area.” Dr. Holly Ferguson Prosper ISD Superintendent of Schools.
The City of Frisco has finalized a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Broadway Across America / Broadway Dallas (BAA/BD) which would be the presenter of first-class Broadway shows at the new facility as an annual ‘Broadway Frisco’ series.
“Reflecting the population growth and interest in arts and culture across North Texas, we look forward to creating a new Broadway Frisco series for the community while we continue to present Broadway Dallas at the Music Hall at Fair Park and the AT&T Performing Arts Center,” said Ken Novice, Broadway Dallas President.

3,400 Dallas ISD theater students and teachers to participate in bespoke in-classroom STEAM-based curriculum and attend a dedicated performance of HADESTOWN during its Dallas engagement
The Addy Foundation, a major sponsor of the program since its inception, continues its multi-year partnership, with additional support from the Fichtenbaum Charitable Trust, H-E-B/Central Market, Texas Counter Fitters, Galleria Dallas and more
Dallas, TX (October 24, 2024) – Broadway Dallas, Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD) and a consortium of generous underwriters announced today a district-wide STEAM education program themed around the Broadway musical HADESTOWN.
Over the course of multiple weeks, 3,400 theatre students and teachers from 26 Dallas ISD High Schools will participate in specially created curriculum that relates to the production. As part of the lesson plan, all the participating students and teachers will attend a dedicated performance of HADESTOWN at the Music Hall at Fair Park, where the show will play from February 25 – March 2, 2025.
The program was borne of a growing partnership between Broadway Dallas and Dallas ISD, which strives to provide students with access to “the spirit of Broadway” through a wide array of programs and initiatives. This program has previously centered around the national tours of HAMILTON, AIN’T TOO PROUD – THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS, and BEETLEJUICE.
This year, the curriculum was developed to prepare students for college and 21st-century careers and includes a sequence of lesson plans where students will learn the art and science of costume design. Students will utilize algebra and geometry to construct creative iterations of the New Orleans inspired HADESTOWN costumes.
“At Broadway Dallas we believe in the power of live theater and the positive impact it can have on students in our community,” said Ken Novice, President and CEO of Broadway Dallas. “Through this program and its exposure to theater industry work, students will learn various career and life skills that they can apply in their future endeavors.”
“The arts provide a platform for self-expression and an appreciation of the world’s aesthetics, while STEAM education seamlessly combines science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics,” said Dr. Michele Broughton, Deputy Chief of Academic Services for Dallas ISD. “In the Dallas ISD, we believe that through the integration of these disciplines, students are empowered to develop essential critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration skills. Dallas ISD is committed to prioritizing the delivery of exceptional arts experiences, such as offering theater arts students from 26 high schools the opportunity to witness the musical HADESTOWN. We are appreciative of organizations like Broadway Dallas that allow us to adequately expose students to an integrated STEAM curriculum, the arts, and prepare them for higher education and future careers.”
Additional project funding is being provided by corporate, foundation, and individual donors supporting Broadway Dallas Education: On Stage, In Classrooms and Throughout the Community, and its Give A Kid A Seat Campaign.

Canadians Irene Sankoff and David Hein have forged a moving, thoroughly entertaining tribute to international amity and the indomitable human spirit.”
Returning cast members include Kathleen Cameron, Addison Garner, Andrew Hendrick, Kristin Litzenberg, Erich Schroeder and Andre Williams. The tour is directed by Daniel Goldstein with musical staging by Richard J. Hinds, based on the original Broadway direction and choreography.
COME FROM AWAY features scenic design by Tony Award winner Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Tony Award nominee Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by two-time Tony Award winner Howell Binkley, sound design by Olivier & Outer Critics Circle Award winner and Tony Award nominee Gareth Owen, orchestrations by Olivier Award winner and Grammy & Tony Award nominee August Eriksmoen, music arrangements by Olivier Award winner and Grammy Award nominee Ian Eisendrath, tour music supervision by Wendy Bobbitt-Cavett, and casting by The Telsey Office.

Dear Friends,
What do these illustrious Broadway shows have in common: Wicked, Disney’s The Lion King, The Color Purple, West Side Story? They were all part of a decades-long list of blockbuster shows that have appeared on the Music Hall stage DURING the State Fair of Texas.
This longstanding tradition – The State Fair Show – has been dormant since 2014. But this year, Broadway Dallas is thrilled to rekindle this beloved program. Starting tomorrow and continuing through the entire run of the Fair, we welcome Cirque du Soleil: SONGBLAZERS to the Music Hall. This is Cirque du Soleil’s first adventure into the world of Country Music and it is spectacular! I saw the show at its Nashville debut over the summer and it is undoubtedly the PERFECT show for the Fair.
And as bonus, your ticket to SONGBLAZERS gets you into the Fair for FREE on the day of your show.
So pull your boots on and come join us for corny dogs and cartwheels, funnel cakes and flying, Big Tex and a bouncing balance beam… along with the unique magic that only Cirque du Soleil can deliver in the air-conditioned comfort of your beloved Music Hall.
The State Fair Show is Back!
See y’all in the lobby,
Ken Novice
Broadway Dallas President and CEO

Broadway Dallas is shining a spotlight on longtime subscribers and CenterStage donors Mary Anne and Paul Fego while highlighting a cause that means a great deal to them. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and two years ago, Mary Anne and Paul’s 12-year-old granddaughter Izzy, a regular attendee at the Music Hall with her grandparents, succumbed to the disease. The Fegos have shared their love of Broadway Dallas by hosting friends and family at performances since they have been coming to the Music Hall. Now, they are also spreading the word about pediatric cancer through Go Gold, encouraging people to wear gold the month of September. The Fegos truly are the gold standard.
