Broadway Dallas News | JANUARY 2025

Posted on January 28th, 2025

Dear Friends,

2025 is well under way at Broadway Dallas!

LAST FRIDAY, we announced our blockbuster 2025/2026 season which is chock full of new Broadway hits AND classic favorites. It’s a super special season for all of us as we will be celebrating the 100th birthday of the Music Hall – our storied and beloved home. (Fun fact:  the Music Hall opened in 1925 – the same year that The Great Gatsby was originally published – and the new musical adaptation of Gatsby is on our season – how about that for long-term planning?!)

THIS WEEK, we open the current Broadway smash & Juliet which features not one, but TWO, cast members who hail from Dallas. Shelby Griswold, a former winner in the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theater Awards, plays the role of Lucy. And Juliet herself is played by the amazing Rachel Webb, a Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts alum.

We have great things ahead in 2025 – read on to learn more about what we do on stage — and in the community — and stay tuned for more exciting announcements.

See you in the lobby!

STAFF FIELD TRIP

In November, the Broadway Dallas staff boarded a bus and spent the day on a special tour of South Dallas. Led by our Education and Community Partnerships team, we learned about the profound civil rights activism of a local legend at the Juanita Craft House, had lunch in the garden that transformed a community at Bonton Farms, and explored the grounds of our new Broadway Dallas Cares partner, the Jubilee Park & Community Center. It was an inspiring day for our staff, and it fueled our desire to dig deeper with our amazing community partners in support of their incredible work.

PETER PAN AT SEACREST STUDIOS

Last month we had the pleasure of visiting Seacrest Studios at Children’s Health Hospital with the star of PETER PAN, Nolan Almeida! Located inside the hospital, Seacrest Studios broadcasts live to patients all throughout the Children’s Health system. Nolan had a blast answering questions submitted in real time by the children watching from their rooms and even challenged the host to a few games of tic-tac-toe!

MUSIC HALL ACCESS TEAM

We are proud to introduce the Music Hall Access Team! The Access Team program was started in partnership with Café Momentum to address the need of patron assistance for those with mobile disabilities. The Access Team utilizes individuals who are part of Café Momentum’s internship program, allowing us to provide justice-involved youth in our community with an opportunity to lend a hand to our patrons, acting as their dedicated concierge for the duration of their visit to the Music Hall.

The Music Hall Access Team was created to reinforce Broadway Dallas’ mission to provide the best level of service to all of our patrons, with respect, empathy, thoughtfulness, and passion for what we do.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

Texas Counter Fitters, a super fan of the arts, believes that creativity and culture are essential to a thriving community. As valued corporate partners, co-owners Chris Blackburn and Andrew Gilbert are helping to make an eight-session curriculum and a live Broadway show accessible to 3,400 Dallas Independent School District students.

“By partnering with Broadway Dallas, we’re opening doors for kids who would not have a chance to experience the magic of live theater,” said Chris. “The look on these students’ faces says it all. Art should be for everyone, regardless of financial background. We’re so grateful to be able to share this opportunity.”
